Rob is a senior majoring in Painting with a minor in Art History. He recently spent his summer studying abroad in Rome, which he highly recommends. He says, “It was a good chance to travel to other places.” While he was there, Rob also travelled to Florence, Venice, Capri, Positano, Pompeii, Naples, Sorento, Amsterdam, and London, staying at these locations over the long weekends. When asked what was the most memorable thing about his experience, Rob replied, “cliff diving in Positano.” Although Europe is costly, Rob says there are “cheap ways” to doing things, such as staying at houses that are open to taking in travellers. Another plus for studying abroad was the first-hand exposure to Art History versus viewing historic art work on slides. Rob did not have to take an Italian class and said most people spoke English. When asked about the cons about studying abroad, Rob wished he could have stayed longer. “The food is amazing…better than Olive Garden.” And what can be better!
